Italian traditional agricultural and food products, called in italy PAT (Agricultural Traditional Product), most registred in UE as Protected Designation of Origin (PDO), Protected Geographical Indication (PGI or Traditional Specialities Guaranteed (TSG), are about 5400 in an official list pubblished every year by Italian Agricultural Ministry.
Agricultural and food product are reconized as “traditional” when grown, producted, preserved, seasoned following, in limited areas, the same traditional rules for not less then 25 years. Areas my be one or more municipalities.
Walking on Appia Antica you can go agross more then 60 of these PAT areas. Hereby you will find a map that show these the areas with the name of the typical agrocultural or food product you might find and taste.
